Do you struggle when it comes to falling asleep? Or maybe you struggle to stay asleep at night? For the longest time I struggled with what felt like insomnia. No matter how hard I would try, my mind would keep me up all night long. Today I wanted to talk about some things and habits that I incorporated into my night time routine to help me sleep better at night.

How to Sleep Better at Night – Night Time Routine
1. Diffuse essential oils
I love diffusing essential oils while getting ready for bed. I especially love lavender. It instantly relieves stress and makes me feel calm. I use this diffuser and these are some of my favorite essential oils.
2. Take a warm bath with lavender
Another great way to sleep better at night is to take a warm bath with lavender. I love lavender as mentioned before. It instantly calms my mind and body. I definitely recommend adding lavender to your night time routine.
3. Eliminate light
I find it easier to fall asleep at night when there is no light in my room. One way to help with this is to use black out curtains.
4. Read a book
Have you ever tried reading a book before bed? It’s pretty tough! Whenever I read a book before bed it helps my mind relax and before I know it, I am asleep.
5. Play soothing music
I can not fall asleep without my sleepy time music. I actually put this song on every night.
6. Avoid screen time before bed
I find that watching tv in bed or playing on my phone makes it harder for me to fall asleep at night. The light of the screens tricks my mind into thinking it’s time to wake up.
7. Use a weighted blanket
A weighted blanket has made a huge difference when it comes to sleeping better. The blanket acts as a big hug and relieves my body from any stress instantly. 8. Journaling before bed
Sometimes it helps me sleep better when I journal before bed. Especially if I get all of my thoughts down on paper. It helps rest my mind. I have a few posts with journaling prompts that you can check out.

9. Sleepy time tea
Sleepy time tea is the best. I drink it before bed to help me feel sleepy. Drinks with chamomile before bed are ideal if you want to sleep better. Here’s one of my favorite sleepy time teas.
10. Have a comfy mattress
I thought that having a good mattress wasn’t a huge essential when it comes to falling asleep at night, but I was wrong. Having a comfy mattress is essential! I have been using my Tuft & Needle mattress for a few years now and I am obsessed with it.

I just love essential oils. In the form of candles and also diffusers. For a better night’s sleep, I prefer lavender or tea tree.
But first of all, for healthy and good sleep, you need a sleep schedule – to go to bed and get up at the same time every day, and avoid daytime naps. But the ways you suggested are wonderful things to relax before bed.
