How to Use the Moon Cycle to Help You Manifest

The moon cycle is about 29.5 days long which is roughly a month. When you go to set your monthly intentions, try to set them by aligning with the moon phases. When tracking the moon phases I use the app “Moon” as well as this website.

Keep in mind that you also want to take note of what sign the moon is in, specifically for the new and full moon.

For example, we just had the full moon in Cancer and Cancer represents family.  Since the full moon was in Cancer I chose to let go of any fear based mindsets or limiting beliefs that I may have learned in childhood. I also chose to let go of limiting beliefs that my family has and chose to not take on those mindsets as my own. I also released a lot of childhood wounds that I’ve been working through healing, as well as changing my perspective when it comes to my childhood and family.

This is just an example. Each sign represents something different so when you go to set new intentions and release, look to see what sign the moon is in and what they may represent.

New Moon

The first phase we have is the new moon. The new moon is all about setting intentions as a new cycle begins. This would be a great time to start a new project or habit. Think of this moon phase as the planting seeds phase. I like to use this time to set my intentions for the next 30 days.

As an example: Perhaps I set an intention to become more productive and self disciplined. I would write this intention out and to get even more specific, I could write out “I will create a more structured work routine.”

When there is a new moon you want to use this time to plant your seeds and set your intentions for this new cycle.

Waxing Crescent Moon

The next phase would be the waxing crescent. When the moon is in its waxing crescent phase, this is a great time for visualization. You want to start visualizing what your life would look like if you had manifested your intention.

Going back to my example, I would start visualizing myself waking up and doing my work at my desk because that’s where I am the most productive. I would be using my Google calendar more and Sunday would be the day I would plan my week ahead. Then I would visualize myself as this person who feels less stressed because I am able to manage my time wisely and time block efficiently. I would be the person who is able to get more done because I am managing my time better. This would make me feel accomplished with a sense of inner peace.

When visualizing it is so important to focus on feeling.

As another example, let’s say you set an intention to make an extra $500 this month. You don’t want to focus on the physical aspect of the money, instead you want to visualize what it feels like to have that extra $500.

Perhaps it feels like freedom, success or stability. Whatever that feeling is, really allow yourself to feel it as you start planning how it is you will attract this intention into your life.

The waxing crescent phase is used to focus on planning, visualizing and starting to take the initial actions towards your intentions. It’s also a great time to use affirmations in regards to your intentions too.

For example, I would write out:

  • I am committed to my routines.
  • Everyday I am aiming for productivity and organization.

If you are attracting an extra $500 you’d have affirmations like:

  • I am worthy of receiving abundance
  • Money flows to me effortlessly
  • I attract abundance with ease
  • I am grateful for the money I have received and will be receiving.

How to manifest during the waxing crescent phase

First Quarter Moon

After the waxing crescent we have the first quarter moon. This is when you might find yourself being faced with obstacles or challenges to overcome. During this time there is a need to find balance, specifically when it comes to your mindset and emotions.

If you find yourself slightly self sabotaging your intentions, this is when you would want to get to the root of those limiting beliefs and self sabotaging mentalities.

Focus on creating solid habits that keep you committed towards your goal. Commitment is really important now and your commitment might be tested. If any setbacks or challenges come up, try to figure out what it’s trying to teach you.

For example, let’s say that I recognize that I am not fully aligned yet to my intention because social media is distracting me. Instead of focusing on being productive, I am continuing to scroll mindlessly.  I may also believe that I am not capable of following a routine and because I subconsciously think this, I don’t even bother to try.

During the first quarter moon phase I really need to recognize these self sabotaging ways and focus on changing these mindsets and habits. I need to choose to really commit to changing my habit of scrolling mindlessly when I could be doing other things.

If we go back to the attracting an extra $500 intention,

perhaps you find that a limiting belief arises like “if I up my prices on some of my digital products, no one will buy them. People will think it’s too expensive. Or you may find that unexpectedly your car breaks down and you have to pay $300 which makes you instantly start to feel defeated.

The challenge here is your mindset. First, you need to believe in your worth. Know that when you are valuing yourself and products, other will value them too. This would also be the time to recognize and change how you respond to unexpected challenges.

Are you responding in a way that creates lack? Thinking things like, “Ugh great now I have to come up with an extra $300 that I don’t have and now I really don’t know how I am going to be able to afford groceries this month.”

Or are you going to shift your mindset and think “Okay, no big deal, I know that the money I put out will always come back to me, my needs are always provided for,”

Learn how to shift from a lack mindset that stems from survival mode and shift into an abundant mindset that attracts effortlessly.

During this phase you could also feel a bit more creative during. Use this time to find creative approaches towards your intentions.

Waxing Gibbous

After the first quarter moon we have the waxing gibbous moon phase. This is all about alignment. It’s time to step into alignment with what it is you are trying to manifest.

This is usually a high energy time. Now that you might have faced some set backs or noticed some challenges come up, this is a good time to refine your strategy as you move forward. Is there something you need to change in order to reach your intention? Perhaps a limiting belief or a habit that is getting in your way?

It’s time to shift your energy and really embody the energy that is in alignment with your manifestation.

Going back to the challenges I might have faced, this is when I would need to truly adjust my habits and mindsets that were trying to self sabotage me. It’s time to refine and stay committed.

You can’t be who you are going to be while being who you used to be. You must change in order to grow. It’s time to get uncomfortable and take that step forward.

Full Moon

Now we have the Full Moon and during this phase, the light illuminates the shadow. It’s time to reflect on how far you’ve come and appreciate your progress. What you are grateful for during this time will continue to expand moving forward.

Gratitude is important during this phase. It’s also important to reflect.

Perhaps it could look like,

  • I am grateful that I was able to stay committed to my routine for the past 2 weeks.
  • I am so proud of myself for changing my habits so that I could be more productive with my time and accomplish more during my work week.
  • I look forward to Sundays.

You also want to reflect on what you learned so far. Perhaps you learned that you still have some limiting beliefs that you are needing to let go of, or perhaps you learned that when you let go of fear based mindsets, things work out when you least expect them.

full moon release - manifesting with the moon cycle

Waning Gibbous Moon

After the full moon we have the waning gibbous moon which is all about letting go in order to make room to receive. In order to receiving your manifestation, you need to make room for it.

If you are buying a new couch for your living room, often you have to let go of the old couch to make room.

Let’s say you have been trying to manifest quality relationships into your life, relationships that make you feel good, but perhaps you’ve been holding onto someone who makes you feel drained. Well in order to make space for those healthy relationships that make you feel good, you need to let go of the unhealthy relationships that drain you.

During the waning gibbous moon you want to let go of what no longer serves you so that you can receive what does.

This is a time to be open to receiving and learning lessons while also figuring out what has been holding you back from your intentions. Allow yourself to release those blocks.

Last Quarter Moon

Now we have entered the last quarter moon phase. This is when you finally clear your space and allow the new in. This is a time to breathe in the new and release the old. If you are searching for any answers, the answers can be found within you. Meditation would be great during this time.

Waning Crescent Moon

Finally we close out the cycle with the waning crescent moon or the balsamic moon. During this time you will probably have very low physical energy. This is a great time to recharge, practice self care, and reflect on the past cycle as you discover what you’ve learned. You may also feel a lot of spiritual and emotional energy at this time.

This is a time to really just recharge as you prepare for a new cycle to begin.

And that my friends, is how I manifest and align my energy with the moon cycle.
