10 Ways to have a huge glow up in the new year

So you want to have a huge glow up this year? I’m here to help! I am sharing 10 ways you can have a GLOW UP in 2022! This is a fun glow up challenge that I thought would be a fun way to get you excited for the new year! Hopefully this glow up challenge will help inspire you to step into alignment with that new version of you. The version of you who IS the main character of your life in 2022!

Keep in mind that you don’t have to wait until January 1st to step into alignment with this new version of you. I encourage you to start today! In fact, I encourage you to start right now!!

One thing I’ve learned is that the longer we wait to take action, the longer we give our ego time to come up with excuses as to why we shouldn’t. So don’t wait!

Let’s dive into the glow up challenge!

Start your day with affirmations and journaling

The first way to have a glow up in the new year is by starting your day with journaling and positive affirmations.

I am a huge fan of positive affirmations. Repeating affirmations to myself throughout the day makes a huge difference when it comes to my mood. I recommend starting your day off with 5 positive affirmations and a journaling prompt.

Here are examples of some affirmations that I like to repeat:

  • “I don’t chase, I attract. What is meant for me will always find me.”
  •  “I am an abundant being and I am always attracting money, love and abundance into my life easily. I am never without.”

Starting your day with journaling and affirmations can also help to raise your vibration, so definitely give it a try!

Figure out your limiting beliefs and re-frame them

The next step in the glow up challenge is to eliminate your limiting beliefs. I won’t lie, this took me a while to work through myself. We tend to self sabotage ourselves with our thoughts without even realizing it.

Do you ever see someone succeeding in something that YOU WANT TO DO and think “wow, that must be nice but that will never be me.”

That thought right there is a limiting belief. This belief is stopping you from moving forward and pursuing your dreams.

There are many limiting beliefs that I am guilty of and I am still working on reframing my mindset daily. Re-framing your mindset can be a long process, but eventually you get to a point where you have aligned yourself into this new version of you who doesn’t self sabotage. You become a master manifestor!

Instead of thinking “that will never be me.” I try to think “If they can do it, that means I can do it and each day I am getting closer to alignment.”  Then I allow myself to feel this new version of me becoming more and more in reach.

The more you believe in your abilities, the more motivation you have to want to actually achieve your goals.

Take the time to sit down and write out the limiting beliefs that are holding you back and then reframe those thoughts into a positive, motivating statement. Once you do this, allow yourself to start showing up daily, BEING that person who feels in alignment with what you are trying to manifest.

Do things that make you happy

If you want to have a glow up in the new year, then it’s time to start doing things that make you happy! It sounds so simple right? However, more times than not I would find myself making excuses as to why I couldn’t do the things that actually make me happy.

It’s almost as if I was afraid that it made me selfish to do the things that I loved. I couldn’t figure out why I would keep pushing my happiness away, but what i’ve learned is that it’s not selfish to put your happiness first.

If you are feeling a similar way, then this is the next step in your glow up journey.

Make a bucket list of things you enjoy doing and get to completing it! Really ask yourself, what makes me happy? What makes ME feel good? Once you figure this out, ask yourself, why am I not currently doing these things on a more daily basis? Because asking yourself these questions will help you figure out the limiting beliefs that surround why you feel like you aren’t worthy of doing the things that make you happy.

Try something new that you’ve always wanted to try

I think it’s important to try new things, but then again I am a full on Sagittarius. Of course I’m all for new experiences!

I have always been someone who enjoys trying new things, but I know there are many out there who like to stick to their comfort zone. Trying new things tends to scare a lot of people. However, what’s so important when it comes to this glow up challenge is to really push yourself to step OUT of your comfort zone.

I want you to try 2-3 new things this month and try them fearlessly! What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but have been too afraid? GO DO IT!

Take more risks

If you want to have a huge glow up in 2022 then I challenge you to take more risks! I have taken countless amounts of risks in the past few years. There were many people who would say my risks were questionable, but each risk taught me valuable lessons and even brought me some of my greatest accomplishments.

Before I started my blog I was a full time waitress who could barely pay for my bills. I started my blog with the intentions of hopefully inspiring others through my writing. Starting my blog pushed me out of my comfort zone. I was so afraid to share my thoughts, but I did it anyway.

Eventually my blog began to bring me a full time income. I made $40,000 my first full year blogging and the BIGGEST risk I took back then was quitting my full time waitressing job at the beginning of 2019 to blog full time.

Since that day I was able to make a 6 figure income from my blog. My risks didn’t stop there. Once I had this huge 6 figure milestone year, I completely changed directions… and people thought I was insane. Why would I want to stop creating the content I was creating if it was bringing me in 6 figures?

Well, what I realized was that the content I was creating was no longer coming from a place of passion anymore. I am a passion based person. If it doesn’t light my soul up, I change directions and walk towards what does! So that’s what I did.

Now I do tarot and natal chart readings while creating content in hopes to inspire others to heal, do the inner work, shift their mindset and manifest a life filled with passion!

The moral of the story is to get out of your own way! Don’t let your ego hold you back from pursuing a life of passion and purpose!

Listen to motivational podcasts and read content that inspires you

We really are what we consume. There are so many fear based medias out there these days. When it comes to your glow up journey I want to challenge you to consume content that inspires and motivates you daily! Let go of the content that keeps you in a fear based mindset and low vibrational energy.

Build consistency & self trust

A popular question I get asked is “how can I actually stick to my goals?”

It’s so easy to set a goal and then forget about it, but when it comes to this glow up challenge, it’s crucial that we are setting goals that we can actually accomplish.

Often I find people aren’t achieving their goals for a few reasons.

  1. They have a lack of self trust so they don’t actually believe they can achieve the goal they set.
  2. They get overwhelmed by the intensity of the goal they are setting so they find excuses to procrastinate.

So what’s the trick here? The trick is to build that self trust and that comes through consistency. When you are consistently showing up for yourself you are building that inner self trust. This signals to your inner self that you can trust that you will continuously show up daily and accomplish your goals!

When you continuously lack when it comes to following through with the goals you set for yourself, this can build a lack of trust within.  The next time you set a goal your subconscious mind immediately goes to the thought of you not accomplishing the last goal you set which creates that self doubt, limiting beliefs, and self sabotage.

So how do we build consistency? By setting goals that are obtainable! When you set goals that are reasonable, your chances of accomplishing them are higher.

I’m not saying to think small… because you should dream big! But what I am saying is that taking your one big goal and breaking it down into small obtainable goals will get you further!

For example, back when I was trying to make $100,000 from my blog, it was easy to set the goal to “I will make $100,000 in 2020.”  However, this quickly intimidated me to look at. It caused a lot of overwhelm.

So instead, I would break that goal down into smaller more obtainable goals that made that one big goal less overwhelming.

Like, sell x amount of courses a month

I could even go as small as daily habits! If I knew I had to sell a certain number of courses each month, I could then set daily obtainable goals that were helping me achieve that number! For example, create 3 Pinterest pins daily promoting my course, sending out a newsletter weekly that promotes my course, create 2 Instagram stories daily that promote my course.

You see what I’m saying?

After that it’s all about accountability with yourself. You could even have an accountability partner!  Another great tip is to create a vision board, or write yourself messages and post them somewhere that you will see them daily!

Figure out your priorities

Something I never knew was beneficial was figuring out my priorities. Once I knew my priorities I was able to figure out where I should put the most focus. Then I was able to time block more efficiently!

Here’s an example:

One of my biggest priorities is my mental health. There were many times before when my mental health would suffer because I didn’t prioritize it. To prevent this from happening again, I did this exercise. I wrote out my priorities and figured out that my mental health is a huge priority for me. Another priority for me is creating content, but my mental health is a bigger priority for me than creating content.

Knowing that my mental health is more of a priority to me than creating content, I put this higher on my list. When I go to plan out my days, I make it a priority to do self check-ins through out my day. I make it a priority to have a set time when I clock out from work and focus on doing things that are good for my mental health. Whether that’s taking a bath, journaling, watching a feel good movie, or simply doing some meditation.

You see what I mean? So for this glow up challenge, I challenge you to figure out your priorities and plan your time accordingly.

Have time for yourself to meditate & visualize

Visualization has been a HUGE game changer for me when it comes to manifesting. One of the best ways to visualize is through meditation. Making meditation a daily practice can be not only grounding, but it can help you really feel into what it is you are wanting to attract into your life.

If you struggle with meditation you can start off with guided meditations. It’s a great way to practice! Youtube has plenty of free guided meditations. You also don’t need to start off by doing 30 minute meditations. You can start as simple as a 5 minute daily meditation and watch how much of a difference it can make.

Let go of what you can’t control

This is probably the best lesson I learned and the most important part of this glow up challenge. When you learn to let go of what you can’t control, you begin to feel a weight lifted from your soul. Trying to control something that you simply cannot, only leads to exhaustion, disappointment, and feeling unfulfilled.

Focus on what you can control and let the universe do the rest.
