How to be Your Biggest Motivator

Do you struggle to motivate yourself? Let’s face it, we all want to say we have all the time in the world and actually mean it. The unfortunate truth is, days are over in a blink of an eye. I don’t know about you but every time my alarm goes off in the morning I sigh, huff and puff. I wake up and I replay each day the same, beginning to end. I hardly ever feel motivated to get anything done. If you feel like me and each day is a struggle to wake up and feel motivated, then here are a few things you need to do to become a self motivator! I’m talking about how to be your own motivator.

How to be a self motivator

Have a morning routine

A great way to self motivate is by having a morning routine. This is by far one of the most important routines to have. If you are going to have a routine, this is it! Having a morning routine not only helps you wake up and start your day on a positive note, but it helps to motivate you for your day as well.

A morning routine example:

  • Wake up
  • brew a fresh pot of coffee
  • journal
  • exercise
  • shower and go

Having positive daily habits that you do continuously can help you feel more motivated and ready to take on the day.

Morning yoga or exercise

Perhaps exercising and yoga is the last thing you want to do, but it really works to help motivate yourself. After a morning exercise your body feels awake and ready to go! If exercising isn’t on your list of things you want to do then try yoga. It can help refresh your mind which then motivates you.

Keep a clear workspace and environment.

Having a clean house and work space makes me feel positive and more motivated. If my room or my house is disastrous then I don’t want to even be around it. It makes me feel lazy and the complete opposite of motivated. The truth is if I have a clean environment then I feel as if I can accomplish more without worrying about cleaning up. It’s important to make sure your environment is always tidy or at least try to keep it that way. I try to set 15 minute timers throughout the day. I use this time to tidy up things that need to be cleaned. It’s less overwhelming for me to do it this way.

Create task lists

I have a thing for creating lists. I don’t know why but if my tasks are written out in front of me I feel more motivated to get them done. I try to write out the tasks that I need to do as a way to self motivate myself to get them done.

Figure out who motivates you

Although this isn’t technically self motivating, but listening to others who motivate you can help. Do you have a podcast you find motivating? Maybe a blog you enjoy reading? Figure out who motivates and inspires you, then you can always turn to them when you need a boost.

I can’t be the only one who has watched others clean their house on Youtube! For some reason this motivates me to want to do the same. & Let’s face it, we are all guilty of following fitness gurus on instagram to motivate us to workout, right?!

Create a vision board

I love vision boards! This is a great way to motivate yourself. I create vision boards of positive quotes, images of future homes, and places I want to travel to. This helps to motivate me to save money rather than spend it so that one day I can make my dreams a reality.

Save your money

If you are a big spender, now is the time to save. There is nothing that motivates me more than when I see my money adding up in my bank account. This motivates me to continue to keep saving my money. This could just be a “me” thing, but try it! You never know.

I hope some of these tips and tricks will help you to become more self motivated! Would love to hear from you in the comments!
