That’s when I decided it was time to start practicing self-love and self-care daily. Taking care of yourself from the mind, body, and to the soul is so important.

That’s why I put together this list of 25 best ways to practice self-love. These habits will instantly boost your mood and make you feel more confident than ever before.

25 best ways to practice self-love and why it's important to take care of yourself.

25 Ways to Practice Self-Love

Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love

When it comes to self-love it’s important to never doubt yourself. Always talk to yourself in a positive way. I am a true believer in “you are what you think you are.” Our minds are more powerful than we think. If you are constantly putting yourself down then you will start to believe those words. It’s important to use positive words like, cans instead of cant’s, and always tell yourself your beautiful inside and out.

Self-love pamper days

Sometimes you need to have a bubble bath and eat a box of chocolates. It’s okay. Give yourself a facial and enjoy some quiet “me” time. Nothing says self-love like a little TLC. Yes it sounds cliche, but it can make a heck of a difference.

Let go of toxic relationships

If you have negative people in your life who only put you down, it’s okay to let them go. If you don’t, you are only harming yourself. Surround yourself with only those who bring happiness and positivity into your life. It’s easier said than done, but this was a tough lesson I needed to learn.

Get up early & sleep enough at night

A simple way to practice self-love is by making sure you are giving yourself a full 8 hours of rest so you can wake up earlier to have more daylight to enjoy. I love a good morning routine to get my day started on the right foot. I usually wake up, get ready, journal a little, and practice positive affirmations all while drinking a nice cup of coffee. It’s a great start to my morning and makes me feel positive about the day ahead.

Declutter Your Space

If you declutter your space, relationships, and social media you will ultimately feel happier. Get rid of objects that have no meaning or use to you. Any clothes you haven’t worn in the past 8 months you can donate. Lastly, go through your social media and get rid of any negativity. You should do the same with any relationships. When it comes to self-love you need to get rid of anything toxic and that includes people.

Be kind to yourself

Self-love is all about loving yourself inside and out. It’s not vain to say “damn I look good today!” Speak to yourself in a kind manner. Words stick to us more than we think.

Take a walk

Go for a walk. This will make you feel great. I feed off of energy and when I am taking in nature my energy rises. Clear your mind and enjoy a little bit of nature. You can really benefit from this.

Watch the sunset/sunrise

Simple yet so satisfying. Similar to taking in the beauty of nature around you. It can really make a difference.

Plan a weekend getaway

Sometimes we need to just get away. Have you ever gone on a mini self-love staycation? They can end up being some of the best vacations you’ll ever go on! A night away by yourself and you can even treat yourself to a good massage. Take a trip to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go!

Try something new

Ever want to do something but you were afraid? Step outside your comfort zone. This will give you the chance to learn more about yourself and even facing fears.

Don’t compare yourself to others

You are you, and there’s no one like you. The more you compare yourself to others the more damage you are doing to your self esteem. Appreciate all you have accomplished and be grateful for what you have. It can make a huge difference.

Go after your dreams

Even if you feel as if your dreams are unachievable, anything is possible if you try. The best thing I could have done was go after my dreams.

Meditate and yoga

When I started meditating as a form of self-love it really changed my mindset. You can incorporate some yoga into your meditation too. This is a great way to practice self-love and I highly recommend it.

Appreciate the little things

Practicing gratitude is so important. Instead of wanting something better, I will say “wow I am grateful for the roof over my head.” Once you appreciate what you already have you will start to see more abundance that comes your way.

Do something you love

Figure out what you love to do and then go do it. Doing what we love is a great way to practice self-love. There is no better feeling than doing something you love!

Taking the time to journal daily can be life changing. I like to write out anything and everything that is on my mind or stressing me out. This relieves stress and anxiety. I have some journal prompts for self-love here that might help.

Forgive yourself

There is nothing worse than holding on to your past mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes and it’s important you learn the lessons and forgive yourself. The more you hold onto those mistakes, the harder you make it to love yourself.

Eat food that makes your body feel good:

When we eat foods that are good for us, we start to feel better! Make sure to nourish your body with feel good foods.

Get a massage:

When we are stressed out our body tends to get sore. Getting a massage relieves stress and built up tension. If you have the chance to get a massage, do so.

Don’t look at your phone

Our phone is constantly glued to our hand. Especially with social media it’s easy to look at the negativity in the media. Taking the time to unplug and just live in the moment without worrying about your phone can be a game changer.

Exercising is a great way to practice self-love. Not only will you feel great physically, but it can be great mentally too. Exercising can relieve a lot of stress. Even if it’s 20 mins a day or every other day.

Obsess over the things you love about yourself

It’s so easy to find “flaws”, but what if you would point out the things you love most about yourself just as easily? Take the time to always compliment yourself. Obsess over the things you love most about yourself.

Drink lots of water

Drinking water is a simple way to practice self-love. I will be the first to admit that I don’t drink nearly enough water as I should. If it helps, purchase an affordable water bottle that has time stamps. These time stamps help me stay motivated to drink enough water daily.

Spring clean

Having a space that is clean can make you feel a lot better mentally. I put together a list of things to spring clean out of your life in this post.

Stop trying to please everyone

One of the hardest lessons to learn is that you can’t please everyone. The more you try to please everyone, the less you are pleasing yourself.

Self-love affirmations

Starting your morning off with self-love affirmations like; “I am good enough, I am beautiful, I am smart, I will have a good day.” can make your day a lot brighter.

I hope you found this list helpful. The more you practice these self-love habits daily, the happier you will feel.
